On-pack vs off-pack claims. Medical-grade honey products are regulated as medical devices in the UK, EU, US, Australia and other jurisdictions. The claims that a manufacturer can make on a label are tightly bounded — typically debridement, moist wound healing environment, pH support and odour reduction. Other published effects (antimicrobial, antibiofilm, antibiotic re-sensitisation, anti-scar) are discussed on this site as educational, off-pack context drawn from peer-reviewed literature. They are not product claims and must not be relied on as such.
Off-label use. Some applications discussed on this site (ophthalmic, ENT, oncology adjunct, veterinary cross-reference) may be off-label or investigational in your jurisdiction. Allergy and contraindications. Honey-based products are contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to honey or bee products. Honey must not be given orally to infants under 12 months of age (risk of infant botulism). Diabetic patients using honey dressings should follow their clinician's monitoring protocol.
